The Mountain pistoiese consists of several municipalities regarded as "mountain" among them, Abetone, Cutigliano, Marliana, Piteglio, Sambuca Pistoiese and San Marcello Pistoiese entirely mountainous, Pescia, Montale and Pistoia partially mountain. The territory occupies an extended area north and north-west of Pistoia, on the ridge south of the Tuscan-Emiliano. It is bordered to the north west with the province of Modena and to the north to Bologna. Among its highlands remember the highest peaks as the Horn of the stairs and the Alpe three powers respectively marking the border between the province of Pistoia, the province of Bologna and the province of Modena and the first province of Pistoia province of Modena and Lucca province of the second.
